A few years ago, vocational courses were thought to be for people who did not have the aptitude to study in a college and thus, needed skills in a particular field, to gain employment. This scenario, however, has completely changed today. These days, people have realized the importance of vocational education to gain skills related to a particular field so that their job prospects can improve.
The Koronadal National Comprehensive High School-Vocational Department upholds that vocational education programs for high school can provide students with the opportunity not only to learn a trade but also be absorbed in their desired field to determine whether that career path is the right choice for them. Vocational programs for high school students provide beneficial job skills that can be used before or after college and even as a direct entry opportunity into the workforce.
STUDENT DEVELOPMENT
Knowing that student learning continues beyond the classroom, the Vocational Department strongly encourages students to become involved in programs and activities to enhance their educational experience and personal growth.
The Koronadal National Comprehensive High School is a vast and evolving place – providing abundant opportunities for students to partake in its offerings, discover new pieces of one self and refine the talents which lie within. Taking part in this opportunity, the Vocational Department maintains a sense of community by providing opportunities for social interaction and student participation in community life and student governance.
Skills development plays an integral part in the economic and social prosperity of individuals, communities and the world. A wide variety of vocational education programs for high school students provide hands-on experience in a real work environment. These skills can provide long-term benefits as high school students learn to adapt to new situations and develop necessary problem solving skills.
Success in programs like the Career Pathways in Technology and Livelihood Education (CP-TLE) program develop work ethic, feelings of self-worth, communication skills and the ability to relate to others, as well as life skills that are important in the transition to tertiary level.
Teachers, like other professionals, need to stay informed about new knowledge and technologies.
It is critical for teachers to have ongoing and regular opportunities to learn from each other. Ongoing professional development keeps teachers up-to-date on new research on how students learn, emerging technology tools for the classroom, new curriculum resources, and more.
The KNCHS Vocational Department continues to uphold its program under the CP-TLE Program and that is to promote and enhance capability across sectors for gainful income and productive employment, encourage the teachers to improve quality of teaching through technical vocational education and training and help students get employment opportunities by providing the necessary skills and competencies to adapt to and match the needs of industry and society.
The focus of CP-TLE Program is for high school students to develop tools, so they can succeed. The KNCHS Vocational Department is totally dedicated to make this program a success.
