I am proud of my school….

……Way back in 1940’s a school was built. It’s purpose is to intend to allow and encourage students to understand, under the supervision of teachers.

….. A school that provides  quality basic education with unrelenting quest for character formation and academic excellence in order to produce learners who will become well-rounded individuals and productive members of  society.

….The Mysterious school I’ve mentioned is Koronadal National Highschool but now it is known as Koronadal National Comprehensive Highschool because of the past generations.

Photoshop…GIMP

The new age had come and computer is one of its product. People around the world are already know computer, its function and uses. One of its unique uses is photo editing a very common use on photography and of course student that are willing to learn computer.

One of the famous photo editing program, Photoshop is well known for its standard and quality. Almost computer users all over the world use Photoshop as there main photo editing program. But now a days because of world crisis people prefer free softwares that much easy to use. One day Spencer Kimball and Peter Mattis accidentally create a program called GIMP, one of the popular and free photo editing program that used by students and some big companies around the world. GIMP and Photoshop had some same functions like color picker, eraser, brush and etc. User said GIMP is much more easier to use not like Photoshop its tools are much more harder for beginners. Vector is one of Photoshop unique function it can make your photo in cartoon form and 3d, much more clearer than the ordinary picture. Because of our creativity people creates more effects to our picture and share to other. Our world already improve too much and maybe in next 10 years computer engineers invent 3d computers and touch screen or a world fill with robot that uses photo editing programs….a unique world.

JUST LIKE A TATTOO….

“KNCHS” that was my fats answer every time I was asked where I would go for high school. But the following question would make me think, “What does the letters mean?” And I would just shrug my shoulders for I don’t know the answer. Look how naïve I am, I would go to a place I don’t even know the name. But I am left with no choice. KNCHS is the only school I know, of course I have heard NDMU IBED & NDM for Girls but I refused to consider them as a feasible venue of my high school life. You know why? Because I can’t afford them. Too bad KN is the only public high school in the downtown. And with this reason it is populated. I had heard a lot of things about KN, a lot of different and horrible things, but do I have? None, but just to enter the lion’s cave and be one of them…

Upon hearing that I would be mingling with intelligent students of KN made me excited. Life would be challenging, I know. I have witness from someone her life as a special class student; I know it would be hard and difficult. But she had managed to surpass it, and then I know I would, too. You see how ambitious and confident I was.

First day of school… Everything was new… everything is not the same except for the few people I have met while I was elementary. The place was crowded and with commotion. Almost wverone is busy looking for their respective rooms. While the others are busy by standing ang and looking for new faces.

This is my new school and with this thought my knees trembled… and with floating thoughts came to my head, “what if’s”entered to my mind. But it was erase d when I saw some familiar faces in my room. I know that at least I have someone to hang on to. My first day in high school was finished. I learned that my classmate was the son of this person…that they own this establishment and this student is he valedictorian of her school and many more… Then, my high school life has of officially begun.

It would take thousands of pages If I am to narrate my life as KN student from the very first day ‘till now.. Because everday and everytime I enter the KNCHS gate there would be story. Right from the greetings of the guards…to the ‘tsismis’ about them. I just can’t understand why KNCHS students were so fascinated by “maxipeel’s beauty”….I bet almost everyone knew her…And who doesn’t know about Berting?

Then as walk along the pavement you could see some students are studying their books how diligent..opps… there’s a pocketbook..hmmm.. Then there would also be others dating.. Of course popular PDA duos are there. Next is when you enter your classroom and nag because the morning/afternoon session did not clean before they leave. I guses everyone experienced it. Then your so –boring –teacher would preach her lesson. And Mr. Good-Looking Sir would irritate you because he doesn’t know to teach. And Ms. Not-yet- married will scold you because she said you’re noisy. But of course there is Sir Cuddly to make you laugh and Ma’am Very Good to teach you well.

Recess time.. everyone would   rush to the canteens . toron and juice for those who can’t afford and stingy and Cheese Curls & Coke for those who can afford and social climbers.(Bwahahaha)! And others would just ask from their classmates because their money is not budgeted for food…

Then back to the classroom and again listen to the teacher. When Ma’am Blah..Blah would give her quiz the students would do their best..in cheating.. Don’t dent it. It’s a universal fact that students cheat (in order to survive)!

The bell rang. It’s time to go home, but as for me and my colleagues, we have a different path to go.. We have to finish this project, this paper, these props and many more.

Now, my high school life is to end. The time to put a period is coming. But the memories KNCHS gave me will always be in my heart and soul.. just like a tattoo..I’ll always have you KNCHS gave me experienced I know I won’t experience in other places.

time, money, open source

Contrary to what others think, open source is not a rival. Open source is supposed to make users happy (except when it doesn’t work).

No one is quite sure how to define fire, but everyone knows what is it. Open source software is the same. Like fire, we know what open source does, we know what open source looks like, and we know it when we see it, but no one agrees on a definition. About the one thing that has general agreement is that open source software is distributed with the source code freely available for alteration and customization… thus the word “open.”

While it’s hard to say what open source is, it’s easy to say what it’s not. It’s not proprietary, it’s not protected, it’s not expensive (often free), and it’s not usually supported by a single entity. Open source are those programs that are written by volunteers and made available for all to use, to modify, and to improve.

Those who are knowledgeable about software and programming are always asked if open source is “as good as” commercial products. It’s like asking if one breed of dog is better than another! The general consensus is that a well-written and well-supported open source program is as good if not better than a non-open source program. But not all open source programs are well written, nor well supported. Like the commercial world, there are good products, great products, and, of course, terrible products.

So what is out there for your business in the open source world? First of all, most open source programs are utilitarian in nature, such as databases, security tools, programming languages, networking utilities, and file sharing programs. That said, there are more and more business and financial packages starting to appear in open source.

There is a huge amount of very good, high performance, feature rich software out there in the open source world free for anyone to use. Before you spend hundreds, thousands, or even tens of thousands of dollars on a “name brand” system, you owe it to your company’s bottom line to check out what is available in open source and see if it will work for your operation.

KNFOSS students showed prowess in photo editing – as part of the requirements in ICT IV, the 4th year students of Newton and Galileo sections exhibit their skills in photo editing, more specifically in selective colorization with the use of Open Source program GIMP under the guidance of ICT adviser Mrs. Latreia Estabillo.

The said outputs of the students are posted in KNCHS computer laboratory. It is believed that the skills of these students are comparable to those professional graphic artists and is ready for artistic and competitive advertising skills.

here are some of the outputs:
